Cote de Beaune
The Cote de Beaune appellation, created in 1937, is specific to a few plots on a local hill above Beaune, called the Montagne de Beaune. It does not include the Premier Crus, and must not be confused with the Cote-de-Beaune-Villages appellation.
The wines under this appellation are light and fruity Pinot Noirs, or supple dry Chardonnays. The location is ideal for these grape varieties at between 300 and 370 metres above sea level, and produced one-third of white wines and two-thirds of red wines.
