11 Apr 2018
Located in Cotes de Roussillon, Rivesaltes, and Cotes Catalanes in Roussillon, brother and sister, Pierre and Veronique took over from their parents vineyard in 1993 and have carefully maximised the huge potential of their estate. This family estate extends to over 83 hectares in three domains entirely given over to AOC.
Their wines are superb, and constantly gain more and more recognition from discerning wine lovers and critics. The vineyard has now more than doubled in size without diminishing the quality - quite a rare achievement. With Domaine Boudau actually based in Rivesaltes, it is of no surprise that also the famous dessert wines from this villages are also a great success. The main grapes grown are Grenache Noir, Muscat D'Alexandria, and Syrah, growing traditional grapes varieties of the Mediterranean basin.
Veronique and Pierre are involved with every aspect of their vineyard and are directly responsible for winemaking, managing the property and marketing. The grapes are sorted and harvested by hand, selected at optimum maturity. Each variety is vinified separately with the blending taking place at the very end of the process.
With 5 permanent employees in total, with additional seasonal staff, Domaine Boudau keep good quality wine producing, with good quality control measures. Over the years, without certainty, with a lot of conviction and passion, they highlight the fantastic potential of this vineyard.
